About Foothills Archery Club
Foothills Archery Club is a community-focused club in southern Alberta, founded in 2017 to provide a safe, supportive place to learn and practice archery.
We welcome archers of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to experienced archers, offering a space to build skills, gain confidence, and connect with others.
Our focus is on making archery accessible to everyone by supporting new archers with equipment and practice opportunities. The club continues to grow as a welcoming community for Foothills County and nearby areas.
Our Mission
Foothills Archery Club provides a safe, well-managed environment where people of all ages and skill levels can learn, practice, and grow in archery. Through strong safety standards, supportive instruction, and a welcoming community, we make the sport accessible to all while striving to become a premier archery club in southern Alberta.
Our Community
Foothills Archery Club is supported by volunteers and members who share a passion for archery. Our membership includes individuals at every stage of experience, from beginners taking their first shots to archers who participate in local and regional events.
We believe archery should be accessible to everyone and strive to maintain a welcoming, respectful, and supportive environment for all participants. By encouraging mentorship, shared learning, and community involvement, the club continues to grow as a place where people can learn, practice, and enjoy archery together.
What We Offer
Foothills Archery Club provides a variety of opportunities for members and visitors to participate in and enjoy archery in a safe and organized setting.
Our club supports a range of archery disciplines and styles, allowing members to explore different forms of shooting depending on their interests. Within our community you will find archers practicing:
-
Target Archery – traditional target shooting focused on accuracy and consistency
-
Field Archery – shooting across varied terrain and distances in a natural setting
-
3D Archery – shooting at realistic animal targets in outdoor courses supported by a collection of over 30 three-dimensional targets used for practice and events
-
Hunter-Oriented Archery – practice and preparation for ethical and responsible hunting
Members of the club use a variety of equipment and shooting styles. Some archers prefer recurve and traditional bows, while others use modern compound bows, and the club environment encourages respectful learning and participation across all equipment types.
In addition to these shooting disciplines, the club offers:
-
A safe and well-maintained archery range
-
Programs designed for both beginner and experienced archers
-
Youth and adult participation opportunities
-
Organized club shoots, events, and tournaments throughout the year
-
Skill development opportunities and guidance from experienced members
-
A welcoming community where archers can learn from and support one another
While the club does not currently offer instruction from certified Archery Canada or Archery Alberta coaches, many of our members have significant experience and are happy to help guide newer archers as they learn proper techniques and safe range practices.
We work to ensure anyone interested in archery can participate even without their own equipment. If you don’t have gear, we have you covered, helping new archers access equipment and gain experience on the range so they can build their skills with confidence.
